Environmental Stewards Associates (ENVISTEWAS Ltd) is a private company created to improve environmental quality and making it more viable. Our project is all about organic manure making from the bio-organic wastes. The goals and expected result are as follow: in short term it will improve Job creation, provide cleanness of the environment, viability of the environment reduction of water, air, and soil, recycling (reintroduction of the energy in the system to avoid natural losses, provide capacity development (training) in environmental cleanness and farming practices. In long term this project will: increase farm productivity, long lasting sense of environmental care, contribution to national household and country GDP( Gross domestic product).
We are decided to start up this project because we are motivated and we want to use thewastesd for sustainability in terms of viability of the air, recycling the solid wastes, making bio-organic fertilizers for farm production support with emphasis on reduction of the costs of production. This type of business is new in Rwanda because we used to collect and put all the wastes from all around the city in one place while we should be utilizing it for the benefits of the community in terms of business. This business will create a positive impact both in rural and urban areas of Rwanda where: huge quantities of wastes will never be seen as hazardous but as business opportunity, producing organic manure which will increase options on food and nutritional security; this will create a minimum of 1000 direct jobs in only 2 years which means that we shall solve unemployment concerns with this business.
During a feasibility study that we made at Nduba waste collection site in last August, the daily deposit was 30 trucks which give an estimate of 210tonnes. The rates of organic versus non organic wastes were estimated to 80% against 20% . This gives us an opportunity to use this organic waste and make other products other than seeing these wastes as pollutants in our scarce natural environment. Yes we are the best because we are motivated, experienced , hardworking, and passionate for project most of all Our Project is very special here in Rwanda because we shall use the wastes for sustainability in terms of: viability of the air, recycling the solid wastes, making bio-organic fertilizers for farm production support with emphasis on reduction of the costs of production. This type of business is new in Rwanda because we used to collect and put all the wastes from all around the city in one place while we should be utilizing it for the benefits of the community in terms of business.
We are in the process to start because we have already done the feasibility study and the final business case has been developed,. We are now in fund raising for getting potential investors to get started. We have up to now completed successfully training on Environmental Protection Education farming community members in Rwanda. We facilitate them and the result is to have a knowledgeable community on farming good practices and the benefit of segregate and collect wastes at source in terms wastes management that bring to entrepreneurial spirit while protecting the environment.
Our business model is all about Business feasibility on site and throughout collection sites as well as a report well written, Approach potential partners in the project ( local government, NGOs, local waste collection companies, and cooperatives), Developing strategies based on field results as well as available funds, before starting using money Manure production and commercialization with potential markets. Our clients are local rural farmers and all Rwandan farmers, cooperatives which are mainly focused on agriculture, city and town residences who want to manage their gardens, support project from other partners for supplying organic manure. We will sell produced organic manure where 1 kg of these 120 tons will cost 30 Rwf (means that one tone will be $42 per ton).
Our main milestone is to initiate the business and build strong institutional arrangements together with suppliers/companies which collect wastes at household level in Kigali as well as administrative authorities. We are also building customer-seller relationship on the contracts. And The next step is the actual production of the manure that is expected to take place starting with 2016-June as well as selling. We are looking for fund raising for getting potential investors to get started.
